The cuban red macaw species was wiped out by men; there are no longer chicks for a breeder to raise.
There are about 30 known species of these parrots, but perhaps there are more of them in remote areas. Nine species are extinct from the wild; some of them remain only in captivity thanks to the efforts of breeders.

The majority of parrots belonging to the genus Ara live near equator in Central and Southern America, Africa and nearby islands. They can live only in hot humid climate and feed on tropical fruits, seeds, nuts and flowers. The cuban red macaw species was wiped out by men; there are no longer chicks for a breeder to raise.
